Attitash to Replace Summit Triple

In an announcement posted to social media, Attitash general manager Brandon Swartz announced the replacement of the Summit Triple. Pending approval from the United States Forest Service, a new high speed detachable quad will be installed in its place in 2023.

Constructed in 1986, the Summit Triple extended Attitash's vertical drop by 160 feet over the former Top Notch double chairlift (removed in the 2010s). At over a mile in length, the CTEC fixed grip triple chairlift garnered criticism in recent years due to the long ride and issues with reliability. The lift serves some of Attitash's longest intermediate and expert runs and has an unusual shared tower where it crosses over the Flying Yankee Express.

Whereas Attitash's current lift fleet is largely located on private property, much of the summit chairlift is located in the White Mountain National Forest. The replacement was added to the White Mountain National Forest Schedule of Proposed Actions in conjunction with the current Progression Quad installation. With an existing top terminal elevation of approximately 2,280 feet, the project should not be subject to the same Bicknell's Thrush habitat restrictions affecting nearby ski areas with construction above 3,000 feet.

Doppelmayr is currently installing the new Progression Quad, which is Attitash's first new chairlift since 1998.
